Degree: Bachelor in Electrical Engineering,
Princeton University, 2004
Joined Appian: Summer, 2004

I landed in this country in 2000, geared for Princeton with two heavy suitcases after traveling for about 9500 miles. I juggled cultural differences and language barriers with the hectic schedule of an engineering degree and my campus job as a library assistant. My third year was spent in Oxford University as one of the two representatives from Princeton on the first exchange program initiated between the two Engineering Departments. My journey at Appian began in August 2004 as a Technical Consultant. Initially, I worked on small teams that rapidly developed application prototypes to demonstrate the myriad of ways in which our software product can address specific business needs. Early 2005, I became one of the founding members of the Solutions Engineering team. My initial role as a developer quickly evolved to include writing technical specifications, designing our front-end framework, coordinating our development work and interacting with domain experts to guide the company’s first compliance solution. Today, this role has taken a more formal shape. I am in charge of the content of the procurement solution that drove over $3m in revenue.

Did I expect to be a Sr Program Management Engineer within two years out of college? Absolutely not. My career path was crafted not by an external invisible force but by my own initiative, guided by a management body cognizant of the talent lurking behind sometimes boldly naïve, sometimes naively bold, fresh out of college employees. At Appian, opportunities abound for the creative and motivated; grab it, and run with it.

My colleagues, my teammates, and my friends at Appian are the kind of people who take initiative, who don’t hesitate to go against the grain to improve the way things are, who want to make a difference and know that they can. That’s what I love about Appian. It is a multi-cultural and extremely diversified workplace. The quality and dynamism of the people that I interact with everyday is what makes Appian stand out for me, and what will make it remain truly unique.
