I try to challenge myself in everything I do. I am always trying to improve myself, and the best way to do it is to set new goals and new challenges.
I was born and raised in Culiacan, Mexico. For college, I made the decision of moving to another city to earn my degree because I wanted to go to one of the best schools in Mexico: Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. This meant leaving my friends and family back in Culiacan to face the challenge of living on my own. This was one of my best experiences because I learned a lot about life.
After college, I started working in a very small company in Mexico. I chose this company because I knew I would have to work a lot, but also it would be a great opportunity to learn a lot. Even though we had to work like crazy, it was a great experience for me--it taught me the importance of teamwork, planning, and organization.
Today, I am at Appian. I chose Appian because it is a challenging company. Since joining Appian, I have learned to program in a new language, which keeps me very entertained and challenged. I have rotated on to new projects with different teams and am surrounded by exceptional individuals who are willing to share their knowledge and exchange ideas. I have also gained more responsibility and bigger challenges as I have progressed, which is very important for fast professional growth. At Appian, I am always solving interesting problems.
